Education Programs

We offer an excellent education program taught by experienced professionals of color. Instructors help families improve their financial literacy and understanding of homeownership. Our two courses — ‘Wealth Building’ and ‘Homeownership’ — are built on a social justice framework. We also provide continued support and mentorship beyond the classroom.

In the pilot phase of the program, courses are only available for families and staff of One City Schools. Learn more about this partnership in the pilot phase of the program.

Education for Real Estate Professionals

We provide education materials for real estate professionals to learn about the impacts of racial discrimination in housing and how to become effective allies to Black and Brown homebuyers.

We have also established the Ambassador Program and Broker Program for professionals ready to make a commitment to social justice in the Greater Madison housing market.

Education for the Community

In the future, we plan to host workshops for the public discussing the lasting impacts of racial discrimination in housing and the importance of establishing systematic funding mechanisms.

At this time, we encourage all members of the community to learn about our courses and the down payment fund. Get a basic overview from our available documents, then check out our list of education materials for an in-depth look at the persistent barriers to homeownership.

We’re Growing

We need a broad base of support to grow the program, so please tell your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues about OWN IT: Building Black Wealth! We are especially focused right now on reaching real estate and banking professionals in the Greater Madison area.

See the Community Support page for a complete list of ways you can contribute.
